The phrase “soldier come, soldier go, barracks remain” suggests that while individual soldiers may come and go, the military institution, represented by the “barracks,” remains constant and enduring…CONTINUE READING.
In other words, soldiers may change over time, but the military organization or the broader system remains in place. This saying often conveys the idea that institutions outlast individual participants or leaders.
At this point, progressives must respond directly by ignoring the cries of those labelled as retrogressors, persons who have sworn not to recognise any beneficial features of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
What are the prevailing challenges that our nation faces today? Among them, we confront the contentious issues of fuel subsidy removal and the Naira’s shift to a floating exchange rate. In the midst of these changes, we must question whether we truly grasp the potential benefits or if our discourse is exclusively centered on the hardships stemming directly from these policy shifts.
Consider, for instance, my own experience: I now find myself spending an average of 70 thousand Naira every week on fuel. I am fortunate enough to have the means to afford it. Yet, there was a time when fuel costs were approximately 15 thousand Naira per week, and even that amount posed a significant financial challenge.
So, what accounts for this substantial difference? Was it a matter of working harder or finding smarter ways to navigate these economic transitions?
Tinubu is not responsible for the hardships we are experiencing. The difficulties we are encountering are primarily due to the removal of the fuel subsidy, and this is having far-reaching consequences not only in Nigeria but also worldwide.
While some may choose to focus on their difficulties, it’s essential to celebrate our achievements, no matter how modest they may be. Tinubu is consistently drawing in investors, enabling diversification, and supporting entrepreneurial endeavors.
They sit down and start drawing comparisons between Nigeria and foreign countries, often overlooking the fact that some have seen their children embrace Western culture, including same-sex marriages.
Take, for instance, the incident involving Lauretta Onochie being asked to leave her room in the UK, where a young boy, who couldn’t have been older than 12, was causing a scene—a situation they conveniently avoid discussing.
They also neglect to acknowledge that some of their children are addicted to idleness, and they themselves become the subject of ridicule as parents.
They refrain from discussing how some women are choosing to leave their husbands upon arriving in countries like Canada and elsewhere. Similarly, they avoid mentioning that their own children often have no desire to return to Nigeria, effectively becoming a lost heritage in certain cases.
They emphasize the importance of the dollar’s value, seemingly neglecting the significance of their mental and moral well-being. They do not elaborate on how they toil throughout their lives, bearing the burden of exorbitant taxes.
Instead, they are fixated on issues such as enhanced infrastructure, the strength of the US currency, and railway expansion, among others. They chose not to confront the hidden high crime rates in some of these regions, which are frequently the result of bad government policies in such countries.
Today, a significant number of their offspring living abroad decline to answer their parents’ calls from Nigeria, a matter they choose not to discuss. They refrain from acknowledging how numerous young individuals have abandoned their education to engage in drug use.
Additionally, they avoid sharing the challenges they encounter in their efforts to earn dollars, with some working three shifts a day and having only limited access to their phones for just an hour.
However, content creators in Nigeria utilize that same amount of time on their phones during work hours and manage to earn more than these individuals. As with everything, a growing population comes with both disadvantages and advantages.
Why don’t they encourage Nigerians here to tap into the digital economy, generate income, and actively participate in the electoral process to bring about change? Why do they seem to focus on the negatives rather than emphasizing the positives?
What is the price of a liter of fuel in the USA? How long does it typically take for them to become homeowners in the USA?
Their principal activity appears to be continually hurling insults at Tinubu. Paradoxically, the generation they constantly laud, the youth, are the folks who, before reaching the age of 20, are already following far-fetched goals of attaining big fortune, leading to them committing rituals of their parents and loved ones.
They seem discontented with their current circumstances and, rather than putting in the necessary effort, aspire to conquer the entire world.
Consider the way the music and Nollywood industries function; they resemble a secretive empire that puts the term “CABAL” in a pedestrian light.
They engage in practices that, with all respect to traditional cults like the Ogboni Fraternity, go beyond what is typically expected.
The saying ” “soldier come, soldier go, barracks remain”” holds relevance in this context. Ignore the naysayers, stay steadfast in your values, and impart the principles of decency and morality to your children. Tinubu is clearly on a promising path toward progress.
