The revocation notice, officially signed by Mr. Olusade Adesola, the Permanent Secretary in the FCT Administration, explained that the minister’s action was prompted by “continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy,” specifically, the lack of development on the plots.

Notable allottees affected by the revocation encompass Lowe Lintas, Tourist Company of Nigeria, Coscharis Motors, CFA Motors, Chidol Properties, and others.

In a related development, the Director of Information and Communication in the FCT Administration, Muhammad Hazat Sule, conveyed that the minister has granted a three-month grace period to 189 titleholders.

These individuals and entities have already obtained Building Plan Approvals but have yet to initiate development on their respective properties.

Sule clarified, “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), has graciously approved a grace period of three months from the date of this publication for the underlisted titleholders who have obtained building plan approvals to commence development of their plots; failure of which their titles shall be revoked for continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy.”

Among those accorded this three-month grace period are 21 embassies and 168 other entities. Diplomatic missions, such as the Embassy of Ireland, Embassy of France, Canadian High Commission, and several others, fall within this category.

Additionally, public institutions like the Abuja National Mosque Council and the Federal Housing Authority have been granted the same grace period.

Property owners within the Federal Capital City (FCC) who have demonstrated their intent to develop by acquiring Building Plan Approvals are eligible for this extension.

Failure to commence development within the stipulated period may lead to title revocation in accordance with the law, affirmed Sule.

The minister’s gesture aims to encourage both individuals and corporate organizations to initiate development on their properties, particularly within the Federal Capital City.
