During a meeting at the State House in Abuja on Sunday with a delegation led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Tinubu emphasized the necessity for all Nigerians to support the national vision. He also praised Wike for his remarkable contributions since assuming office as FCT Minister, highlighting his impactful initiatives.
Tinubu referred to Wike as “Mr. Infrastructure,” applauding him for the ongoing development projects in Abuja and expressing optimism that such accomplishments would secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) a victory in the 2027 elections.
He remarked, “I see the diversity of men and women here, and I must thank the Honorable Minister of FCT. It’s a privilege to be the landlord of all of us here in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.”
Reflecting on his collaboration with Wike, the President noted how Wike proposed the removal of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to improve his work efficiency. Tinubu expressed his political caution regarding the proposal, emphasizing that if it disproportionately benefited Wike’s former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it could jeopardize Wike’s position.
Nonetheless, Wike’s ideas led to significant positive changes in Abuja, including revitalized health centers, rehabilitated schools, and the completion of long-abandoned projects, such as the Vice-President’s residence.
Tinubu acknowledged Wike’s substantial progress, stating, “Abuja is a better place today due to the results you’ve shown. Thanks to your progressive ideas, we are experiencing peace, improving security, and seeing economic relief as food prices decrease.”
The President concluded by emphasizing Nigeria’s unity, saying, “We are one family in the same house but with different rooms. Our shared belief in Nigeria’s potential drives us forward, as demonstrated by Wike’s work in strengthening our national diversity.”
He further praised Wike for his contributions, noting that despite not being from the northern region, Wike has successfully served the nation by working in the heart of the northern part of the country.
