The chairman of the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashim Dungurawa, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is attempting to impose Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, on the Emirate due to his Yoruba background…….. CONTINUE READING
Dungurawa made this assertion on Sunday while addressing journalists in Kano about the achievements of the NNPP in the state over the past year.
According to Naija News, despite the reinstatement of the formerly deposed Emir, Sanusi Lamido, as the 16th Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero remains in the palace. Sanusi holds court at the main Kano emir’s palace, while Bayero resides at the mini palace in Nassarawa GRA, both located in Kano city.
Dungurawa criticized the special protection given to Bayero by the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, and other security agencies, arguing it goes against the interests of the state government.
He warned that President Tinubu’s alleged interference in the Kano Emirate tussle could backfire against him in the 2027 elections.
“If the President thinks he will use a few of his kinsmen in Kano and the alleged Bayero’s Yoruba lineage to continue to keep the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero in the State, let him wait for 2027, we will show him that those people will not help him,” Dungurawa cautioned.
Dungurawa urged the President to resolve the Kano Emirate issue by ensuring the removal of the deposed Emir from Kano.
Additionally, Dungurawa called for a review of the 2019 election results, asserting that the immediate-past governor of Kano State and APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, did not legitimately win his second term as governor.
