Tinubu’s Minister Breaks Silence: ‘I’m Used To Scandal And Crises’ After Staff Revolt Nigerians React
The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has said she remains unbothered by the recent protest staged against her by staff of the ministry.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, workers locked the minister out of her office in Abuja, accusing her of neglect and poor welfare, while chanting solidarity songs and calling for her removal.
Speaking two days later at a town hall meeting at the National Centre for Women’s Development, Sulaiman-Ibrahim dismissed the protest as a non-issue, insisting it had instead boosted her visibility.
“I’m not angry with any of you. I am a politician — we are used to scandals and crises,” she said. “In fact, I’m now more popular. People who didn’t know me before now know me and are researching my work. More positives have come out of this than negatives.”
The minister assured staff that her office had explored creative ways to address their welfare concerns, noting that she had been briefed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
She also stressed that she was not desperate to hold onto office, adding that she was content knowing she had carried out President Bola Tinubu’s directives to the best of her ability.
“Some think politicians want to die in one seat. I am not that kind of politician,” she added. “I have already served as minister twice, and that cannot be taken off my record. My role here is to push the president’s agenda for women, and I’ll do it with your support.”
