The video, filmed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, shows Ufuoma asking the tourist if he had anything for him. When the tourist mentioned he had no cash, Ufuoma, unaware he was being recorded, responded, “Common. If it comes from you, I am happy with anything.”
The tourist then suggested using his card to withdraw money via POS or ATM. Ufuoma replied, “Give me some money and I will appreciate it.”
In response to the video, the NIS issued a statement condemning Ufuoma’s conduct as inconsistent with its standards of professionalism and ethics. The statement noted that Ufuoma’s suspension will remain in effect pending the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings in line with legal and public service regulations.
