The Federal Government has officially identified Odoh Ocheme, a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) staff, along with two others, Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar, as wanted individuals in connection with an alleged forgery scheme to steal $6.2 million from the CBN. The letter, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Eloho Okpoziakpo, accused the trio of conspiring and forging documents in the name of former President Muhammadu Buhari to execute the theft. It detailed the Special Investigator’s findings during the assignment, citing the involvement of Odoh Ocheme, who is currently at large, and the two other accomplices.
In response to these allegations, the Special Investigator has requested the issuance of INTERPOL red notices for Odoh Ocheme, Adamu Abubakar, and Imam Abubakar. The letter outlined that the trio had stolen approximately $6,230,000 in cash from the CBN’s coffers using forged documents bearing the President’s name.
The letter further disclosed that warrants of arrest have been issued by the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja Division, under Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/19/2024 B/w: Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Adamu Abubakar & 2 Ors. This legal action aims at the apprehension and arraignment of the accused individuals.
The document attached to the letter includes the data page of Odoh Ocheme’s Nigerian International Passport No. B50082800, certified true copies of the warrants, and the Court’s Order for their arrest.
Concurrently, the Federal Government has filed a six-count charge against Odoh Ocheme and his alleged accomplices as part of its efforts to address the severity of the alleged offenses.
