The President gave this commitment during an interactive session with South East leaders on his official visit to Enugu State on Saturday, as disclosed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

In addition to the rail project, President Tinubu pledged support for the development of the Anambra Basin as a major energy reserve, which is believed to contain up to 1 billion barrels of oil and 30 billion cubic feet of gas.

During the session, the President attentively listened to concerns raised by former Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, and Enugu State indigene Chris Ugoh, promising to address their requests.

Nebo, while commending the Tinubu administration for completing the Port Harcourt to Aba section of the Eastern rail line, urged the President to prioritize the completion of the remaining sections. He emphasized that the rail link would significantly boost Nigeria’s non-oil exports and overall economic growth.

Ugoh highlighted the Anambra Basin’s potential to support power generation and provide industrial feedstocks, calling on the Federal Government to harness this resource for the benefit of the Southeast and other regions, including the Middle Belt and the North.
