Wike made the announcement on Thursday, June 2025, during the commissioning of a newly completed collector road connecting Mabushi to the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe, Abuja—a project handled by a Chinese construction company.

During the event, the band’s lead vocalist added a humorous and impressive touch by mimicking a song in what sounded like the Chinese language, paying homage to the project’s foreign contractors.

Delighted by the performance, Wike stated he would raise the band’s fees, now that they’ve showcased the ability to sing in Chinese.

“Now that my band can sing in Chinese, I’ll increase their fees,” he remarked, drawing laughter and cheers from the crowd.

In response, the band launched into a lively follow-up tune, repeatedly chanting “Agreement is agreement,” interspersed with Wike’s name and ending on the playful phrase “Chi hu chan.”

The reprieve, which ended on Monday, June 16, had been granted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after the FCT Administration began revoking titles for unpaid rents, some outstanding for over four decades. Prior to the intervention, over 4,700 property titles had already been revoked.

Although many defaulters have since rushed to settle their debts—some paying between ₦2 million and ₦5 million in penalties along with their arrears—the administration’s next steps remain uncertain, keeping stakeholders on edge.
