The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has provided insights into his role in the removal of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during a PDP event in Rivers State, Wike disclosed that his decision stemmed from Secondus’ opposition to Siminalayi Fubara’s 2023 governorship ambition. He revealed that Secondus had lobbied for his cousin, Tele Ikuru, to secure the PDP governorship ticket, a move Wike could not endorse. This, he stated, was the key reason behind his push to remove Secondus from the party’s leadership.

Addressing the current rift between himself and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Wike accused Secondus and former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia of hypocrisy. He alleged that both individuals only began supporting Fubara after personally profiting from their association with him.

Wike, a former close ally of Fubara, insisted that Secondus and Omehia were the true adversaries of the governor, not him. He criticized their actions, suggesting their newfound loyalty to Fubara lacked sincerity.

“I heard Secondus in Bori recently, saying I awarded the Bori Internal Road project as governor and paid 50%, expecting the next governor, whom we all supported, to continue the projects,” Wike said.

He added, “Secondus claims his enemies are the governor’s enemies. But who are the governor’s enemies? Is it not Secondus, who initially opposed Fubara’s candidacy and pushed for his cousin, Tele Ikuru, instead?

“I led the charge to remove Secondus as PDP National Chairman because he tried to impose his cousin as governor. Now, he calls himself the governor’s friend and paints me as the enemy. To God be the glory.”
