Salami, who appeared before Magistrate Waliu Salami, is charged with conspiracy, fraud, and forgery. The prosecution revealed that Salami, along with accomplices still at large, allegedly conspired to forge a Taag-Linhas Airline ticket. They then used this counterfeit ticket to deceive and defraud Catherine Mbaku, who sought to buy a ticket to Bolivia.
The alleged crime occurred on June 27, 2024, at No. 26, Olomowewe Street, Mushin, Lagos. The defendant is accused of obtaining $2,500, approximately N4.5 million, under false pretenses.
Salami pleaded not guilty to the charges, which are in violation of Sections 406, 411, and punishable under Sections 370(1)(2), and 314(1)(a)(b)(2)(3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. Magistrate Waliu Salami granted her bail of N500,000 with two sureties of the same amount, requiring proof of livelihood, tax payment, and verified addresses.
The case will be revisited on September 20, 2024.
