The high-level meeting, taking place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, is part of ongoing consultations among top PDP figures and their allies, focused on forging a united front to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In addition to Atiku and Lamido, other influential PDP members in attendance include former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, and former governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi).
According to insider sources quoted by Punch, the gathering—chaired by David Mark—is deliberating whether to operate under the PDP framework or fully transition to a new political platform for the proposed alliance.
There are strong signals that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) may be adopted as the coalition’s central political vehicle, with Senator David Mark reportedly positioned to serve as interim chairman of the emerging movement.
Other key figures present at the Abuja parley include Senator Ben Obi, former PDP National Women Leader Josephine Anenih, ex-National Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu, former National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former National Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira, among others.
