A tragic incident unfolded in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, where a 25-year-old man named Elisha allegedly took the life of his girlfriend. The distressing event occurred on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, around 7:00 am at the suspect’s residence near Beulah International Nursery and Primary Schools, situated on Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo.

The motive behind the heinous act remains unclear as of the time of reporting. Upon arrival at the scene, our correspondent observed a gathering of local residents, causing traffic congestion as they clustered around the area.

The victim’s body, along with the alleged perpetrator, had already been transported to the police headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia. Armed officers were present, working to restore calm amidst the heightened tension.

According to an anonymous source, the tragedy unfolded early in the morning when the suspect returned home with his girlfriend, reportedly a nurse. Witnesses heard sounds of a violent altercation emanating from their room shortly after their arrival.

Despite attempts by concerned neighbors, including an elderly woman who intervened to stop the assault, the situation escalated. The victim’s father was summoned, but before help could arrive, the suspect barricaded himself inside and perpetrated the unthinkable act.

Tragically, by the time assistance reached the scene, the victim had been fatally attacked and dismembered. The suspect, meanwhile, had concealed himself in the room’s ceiling. Law enforcement authorities intervened, eventually apprehending the suspect for questioning.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, stated that the suspect is in custody, undergoing interrogation as investigations continue into this horrific event.
