The elders urged Ndume to support Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is also from Borno, rather than attacking President Tinubu.

The CNEF expressed their anger over Ndume’s recent criticisms of President Tinubu’s administration, labeling them as unnecessary. They questioned Ndume’s rationale, emphasizing that he should be assisting the President in addressing the insecurity and other challenges in Borno and the Northern region caused by insurgents and bandits.

The elders accused Ndume, the representative of Borno South Senatorial District, of failing to utilize his two decades in the National Assembly to improve the dire situation in his constituency.

“Senator Ndume attacked President Bola Tinubu’s administration, calling it a kakistocracy run by the least qualified and most unscrupulous citizens, and a kleptocracy focused on stealing,” the elders alleged.

In response to these criticisms, the CNEF, through a statement signed by their Coordinator, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Sheriff, stated that Senator Ndume should instead work closely with President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and security agencies to address the insurgent and bandit attacks in the North.

The elders questioned why Ndume remained silent during President Buhari’s tenure despite the severe insecurity, hunger, looting of public funds, and poor governance.

They urged Ndume, who is also the Chief Whip of the Senate, to be more sensitive to the needs of his constituents in Borno and the entire North. They demanded that he account for his 20 years of service as a lawmaker.

“If leadership is as simple as he suggests, we boldly ask how many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) he has trained, educated, and empowered with the funds allocated to him?” the elders asked.

The elders threatened to mobilize voters against Ndume in the 2027 elections if he does not provide an account of his stewardship. They also called on Northerners to disregard Ndume’s divisive comments and support the Tinubu-Shettima administration in addressing security challenges in the North and other parts of the country.
