Boss, Please Let Me Govern; You Can Battle It Out During The Elections,’ – Fubara Appeals To WikeGovernor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to allow him to focus on governing the state. Tensions have risen between Fubara and Wike over control of the state’s political structure since Fubara took office.
Despite their differences, Fubara proceeded with local government elections over the weekend without police presence. During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Fubara appealed for peace, saying: “My plea is that everyone should put down their weapons. Even to my boss, the minister—there’s no need for destruction. Wike once led the state and made it the envy of others.
“Now, someone else is in charge. What’s needed is support. After four or maybe eight years, I will also step down, and someone else will take over. That’s how it should be. When elections come, you can fight, but for now, it’s time to govern, and we need all the support.”
He also highlighted the importance of unity, pointing out the challenges the state faces in oil production: “We’re already struggling with low oil production, with issues in Emohua and Degema. Adding internal conflicts only makes things worse. These are internal matters that should be resolved quietly.
