Despite efforts to arrest him in April and September 2024, Bello managed to evade capture, reportedly with the help of his successor, Usman Ododo, who used his immunity as a sitting governor. Bello was eventually arrested in November, arraigned the following day, and granted bail in December by an FCT high court in Maitama for ₦500 million after meeting the required conditions.
- Betta Edu: Just months after her appointment as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation by President Bola Tinubu, Betta Edu was suspended in January over allegations of diverting significant sums from ministry funds into a personal account. President Tinubu called for a full investigation by the EFCC, but Edu denied the accusations. In April, the EFCC reported recovering ₦30 billion from the investigation, with 50 bank accounts under scrutiny. Edu was replaced by Nentawe Yilwatda in October following a cabinet reshuffle.
- Franklin Nwadialo: In November, Franklin Nwadialo, the newly elected Chairman of Ogbaru LGA in Anambra State, was arrested in Texas, United States, for his alleged involvement in a $3.3 million romance scam. The US Department of Justice charged Nwadialo with 14 counts, and he faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) apprehended the 40-year-old LGA chairman upon his arrival in Texas.
