Battle For Anambra Begins! INEC Unveils Full List Of Governorship Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the names of candidates contesting the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to the information shared by the electoral body, 16 political parties successfully submitted the names of their governorship and deputy governorship candidates through INEC’s online portal, which closed by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, called on the public to scrutinize the published details.

He disclosed that, in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and as listed in item 4 of the election timetable, INEC has displayed the Form EC9 for each candidate — including their academic qualifications and other submitted documents — at its state headquarters and the 21 local government area offices across Anambra State.

“We urge Nigerians to carefully examine these documents. Any aspirant who took part in their party’s primaries and believes that a candidate’s information is false has the right to challenge the nomination at the Federal High Court, as provided under Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act,” the statement noted.

Olumekun added that the final list of candidates will be published on June 9, 2025, in accordance with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, which requires it to be released at least 150 days before election day, as outlined in item 7 of the election schedule.

The Anambra governorship election will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
