In a statement released on Friday, the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Saleh, described the development as concerning and called on political actors in the state to avoid actions that could be perceived as politically motivated.

Saleh emphasized that impeachment should never be used as a tool to settle political scores or realign loyalties, cautioning that such moves could deepen divisions within the state.

He noted that the current administration’s rise to power was the result of collective efforts and sacrifices by thousands of Kwankwasiyya supporters across Kano State.

“The people of Kano are closely monitoring these events, and there is growing concern that the impeachment may be politically driven rather than constitutionally necessary,” Saleh said.

“Impeachment must always be guided by justice, fairness, and the welfare of the people, not personal or political interests. The success of this government was a collective achievement, built on the loyalty, unity, and sacrifices of Kwankwasiyya supporters across all 44 local governments in Kano State. Those in power must honor that struggle and avoid using political authority in ways that undermine the alliances that brought them to office.”

Saleh also urged members of the Kano State House of Assembly to perform their constitutional duties independently, fairly, and responsibly, emphasizing that the Assembly’s authority is derived directly from the people.

“The Kwankwasiyya Movement remains committed to peace, democratic stability, and the protection of the political mandate entrusted to this administration by the people of Kano. History has shown that when power is exercised unjustly or vindictively, the electorate will ultimately render judgment through democratic processes. At this critical time, all political actors must act with restraint and wisdom, mindful of the millions of supporters whose efforts brought this government into office,” he concluded.
