INSIDE THE CLOSED-DOOR MEETING!” Nyesom Wike Finally Explains Visit To APC Chairman
Nyesom Wike has dismissed speculations surrounding his recent visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, insisting that political rivalry should not translate into personal hostility....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the remarks on Wednesday while inspecting ongoing road construction projects in Karu, Apo-Karshi and Kubwa.
Addressing questions about the visit, the FCT minister clarified that the meeting was purely personal and not a political engagement as widely speculated.
According to him, friendships and long-standing relationships should not suddenly become controversial simply because individuals belong to different political parties.
Wike stressed that he does not subscribe to “politics of enmity,” noting that he and Yilwatda had known each other long before the latter became APC national chairman.
“I don’t play politics of enmity,” Wike said, questioning why politicians from opposing camps should avoid each other in public merely to satisfy political narratives.
He explained that both men previously worked together while serving in government and maintained a cordial relationship over the years.
The minister also revealed that Yilwatda had made several attempts to meet with him officially but was unable to secure an appointment due to his busy schedule. He said he eventually chose to visit the APC chairman personally at his residence so they could have a conversation.
Wike maintained that his priority remains governance, infrastructure delivery, and meeting the expectations of the administration that appointed him rather than engaging in political distractions.
He added that public criticism and political speculation would always exist, but his focus would remain on executing projects and improving the lives of residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
