Tambuwal, widely regarded as the leader of the ADC in Sokoto State, handed over the party’s senatorial ticket to former Commissioner for Finance, Faruk Malami-Yabo.

Addressing party stakeholders during a strategic meeting on Friday, Tambuwal described Malami-Yabo as “a dedicated, competent and forward-thinking leader.”

He noted that experienced politicians must intentionally make space for younger voices and fresh perspectives in Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to him, leadership should go beyond personal ambition and focus on continuity, service, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.

Tambuwal expressed strong confidence in Malami-Yabo’s capacity to provide effective leadership and unite the people for greater development.

In his response, Malami-Yabo appreciated Tambuwal for the endorsement, describing him as “a political mentor, unifier, and example of selfless leadership.”

He also pledged to promote inclusive governance, accountability, and policies that prioritise the welfare of the people.

Confirming the development, the ADC Publicity Secretary in Sokoto State, Lamir Aminu, said Tambuwal sacrificed his personal ambition in the interest of peace, unity, and stability within the party.

Aminu stated that the decision was aimed at strengthening internal democracy and encouraging younger politicians to actively contest elective positions.

He added that the ADC in Sokoto had also allocated most of its House of Representatives tickets to youthful candidates as part of the party’s commitment to grooming vibrant new leaders.
