CP Haruna Garba, the FCT Police Commissioner, visited areas in Bwari Local Government Area where kidnapping attacks had been reported, conducting a comprehensive review of the security situation in the region. In a statement by the Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, residents were urged to exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified information to prevent unnecessary panic among the populace.

Adeh emphasized the importance of responsible information sharing, urging the public to share pertinent details with the appropriate authorities rather than disseminating unverified information that could contribute to panic in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Commissioner of Police, during his visit on January 3, 2024, interacted with community leaders, assessed security arrangements, and took proactive measures, including deploying additional personnel and an armored police vehicle in Bwari.

Despite these efforts, concerns have been raised about perceived inactivity. The command clarified that disclosing detailed security strategies publicly could compromise their effectiveness, underscoring the need for discretion in such matters.

Expressing appreciation for the public’s cooperation, the statement urged citizens to exercise restraint in sharing potentially misleading or mischievous posts. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the police, the command highlighted that working together would contribute to creating a safer and more secure environment for all residents.
