Adeyemi, a Senate correspondent for the Tribune Newspaper, tragically passed away on Wednesday due to cardiac arrest while on board one of the National Assembly shuttle buses.

He had boarded the shuttle at the Mopol Gate around 10 a.m., and by the time he reached the checkpoint, he was discovered to be lifeless. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the clinic of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Following his passing, Adeyemi’s body was placed in the National Assembly’s clinic, and he was later laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in accordance with Islamic traditions.

In a letter addressed to Adeyemi’s widow, Alhaja Mamunat Adeyemi, the Senate President conveyed his condolences and praised the late journalist.

He remarked, “While your husband and I may not have been particularly close, it is my understanding that he was a peaceful and gentle individual in all his interactions.

To his colleagues, he was a diligent journalist known for his unwavering commitment to his duties, which earned him the status of one of the most respected journalists in the National Assembly.”

Tensions Rise In Senate As Opposition Mounts Against Akpabio

The Senate President acknowledged Adeyemi’s extensive experience, describing him as the doyen of the National Assembly Press Corps due to his coverage of the Fourth National Assembly since its inception.

He also noted Adeyemi’s versatility in various media organizations and his significant contributions to legislative reporting, which will be greatly missed.

In closing, the Senate President extended his prayers for comfort to Alhaja Mamunat Adeyemi and her four children on behalf of his distinguished colleagues.
