Amaechi Blows Whistle On Wike, Fubara’s Alleged Financial Squabble Fueling Rivers Conflict

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, of engaging in a financial dispute.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Amaechi made the allegation during an interview with DW on Saturday, also describing the recent declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu as unconstitutional. He stated, “The ongoing fight between the current governor of Rivers State and the FCT minister is centered around money. If not, what else could be the issue? Nigerians no longer oppose corruption openly. I haven’t seen anyone on the streets questioning what’s really going on. Can both leaders explain to the public what their quarrel is truly about?”
Amaechi further claimed that the state of emergency declared by President Tinubu on March 18, 2025, was strategically aimed at pressuring governors into supporting Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The emergency rule was instituted due to a political crisis and oil facility vandalism in the state, resulting in the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the entire state House of Assembly. Tinubu appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator of Rivers State.
Amaechi, a former Rivers governor, argued that this move was meant to instill fear in other governors, warning them that failure to align with the president could lead to similar actions. “The president wants a power grab. They want to scare governors who may not support them in 2027. There are rumors everywhere that if you’re not careful, the president could remove you,” Amaechi said.
He also questioned the legitimacy of the emergency rule, pointing out that other regions, such as the north-east, north-west, south-east, and south-west, are also experiencing insecurity, yet no emergency rule has been declared there. “No one can impose emergency rule on a democratically elected president,” Amaechi added.
