Army Chief Reiterates Commitment To Tackling Insecurity Amid Aircraft Crash

In a fresh pledge on Monday, the Army chief assured Nigerians that the armed forces and other security agencies are resolute in their efforts to confront the current security challenges facing the nation.

He acknowledged the nation’s confrontations with security challenges but emphasized that the troops have been actively responding to these issues across the country.

“We are determined to tackle every security challenge the country is facing and meet the nation’s expectations in creating a safe environment for economic activities,” Lagbaja affirmed.

He implored Nigerians to support the security agencies by providing actionable information that can aid in combating insecurity within the nation.

Lagbaja emphasized that the establishment of army formations is aimed at bringing the military closer to the populace, enabling them to respond effectively and promptly to any security threat.

The new barracks, according to Lagbaja, will enhance regimentation and coordination in addressing security challenges.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashed on Monday during a casualty evacuation mission. The aircraft was en route from Kaduna to Minna, Niger state’s capital, when the incident occurred in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed the crash in a statement.

The statement disclosed that the helicopter, a MI-171, crashed in Chukuba Village and efforts are underway to rescue the crew and passengers while preliminary investigations seek to determine the cause of the crash.
