Addressing the misconception in a video message circulating on various platforms, the singer-turned-pastor clarified that an old tweet from Wizkid, requesting him to sign him, was merely a playful exchange. Banky W emphasized that at that time, Wizkid was already signed to his label, and their online banter was part of their friendly interaction on social media.

He encouraged fans to trust in divine timing, urging them to be actively engaged in their pursuits. Banky W stated, “Let God and the helper that he would use find you doing something. For some people, God will only find you tweeting.”

Highlighting the timeline of their collaboration, Banky W disclosed that he discovered Wizkid’s talent while listening to a variety of unsigned artists. He clarified that the moment captured in the old tweets was a playful interaction, and by that time, they had already been working together for about a year.

Recounting the early days of Wizkid’s career, Banky W reminisced about encountering him as a backup singer for another artist at an event. He commended Wizkid for his dedication, noting that he had been serving as a hypeman for another artist, showcasing his commitment to the craft.

Banky W signed Wizkid to his label, Empire Mates Entertainment, in 2009, and the collaboration bore fruit with the release of Wizkid’s debut studio album, “Superstar” in 2011. Wizkid gained widespread recognition after the success of his lead single, “Holla at Your Boy.” Eventually, Wizkid moved on from EME after the release of his sophomore album, ‘Ayo.
