In a widely circulated interview with the BBC, Emdee Tiamiyu, a Nigerian YouTuber who specializes in assisting Nigerians in relocating to the United Kingdom, revealed an interesting perspective on Nigerians migrating to the UK. Tiamiyu explained that obtaining a degree is not the primary objective for these individuals; instead, they view it as a means to gain access to the country. He emphasized that the shift in their priorities is swift once they arrive in the UK.

The interview gained significant attention following the enactment of a new law in the UK. The law, set to be implemented in January 2024, restricts Nigerian students and other international students from bringing their families as dependents, except in specific circumstances. Furthermore, the UK will eliminate the option for international students to switch from the student visa route to work routes before completing their studies, aiming to prevent misuse of the visa system.

Nigerians have slammed him for carrying out such a “stupid” act in the viral interview video, as he expresses no sign of remorse for doing such.
