Abuwatseya’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that they are heading to Kuje Magistrate Court for the arraignment of Ikwechegh, stating, “We invite the media to cover the arraignment scheduled for 12 PM today.”

The Nigeria Police Force has initiated an “impartial” investigation into the incident involving Ikwechegh, who is accused of assaulting Abuwatseya in a viral video that captured the confrontation.

In the footage, Ikwechegh, representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, is seen slapping the driver multiple times and hurling insults after the driver requested that he come to his car to collect a delivery. He allegedly threatened the driver, claiming he could make him “disappear” without consequence, and refused to pay for the service, damaging the driver’s phone and clothing in the process.

The police, through ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice is served. Their statement clarified that the incident occurred on October 27, 2024, when Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Ikwechegh’s residence in Maitama, Abuja.
