IPMAN Raises Concerns Over Extended Delays At Dangote Refinery Following N40 Billion PaymentThe Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has expressed concerns about access to fuel at the Dangote Refinery, despite substantial payments to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
IPMAN President, Abubakar Garima, noted that independent marketers have been unable to load petrol from the newly established facility, despite having N40 billion in outstanding payments owed to the NNPCL.
In an appearance on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, Garima voiced his frustration over the delays and challenges faced by marketers at the refinery.
“We have over N40 billion in outstanding debt with the NNPCL. I was surprised to hear Dangote state that he has over 500 million litres of PMS available. We are ready to purchase directly from him if he is willing to sell,” Garima said.
He emphasized that the NNPCL’s cost structure restricts their ability to source fuel independently. “Recently, some independent petrol marketers have encountered issues that I do not fully understand, which is why we have been reaching out to management for direct access to the product after payment.”
Garima reiterated that if Dangote indeed has 500 million litres in stock, they are prepared to buy it, which would resolve their current challenges.
He also questioned Dangote’s claims that marketers were avoiding his refinery in favor of imported petrol. “Contrary to what he stated, our members are not importing fuel and would gladly purchase directly from the Dangote Refinery if given the opportunity,” he clarified.
Garima suggested that a more streamlined process could be established by registering independent marketers directly with the refinery. He criticized the NNPCL’s role as an intermediary, which has led to logistical delays and operational issues for marketers. He called for an urgent solution to ensure IPMAN members have direct access to the refinery’s fuel stock.
