The Inspector-General of Police has approved the immediate demobilisation of officers attached to the No. 24 Police Mobile Force Presidential Escort at the State House, Abuja, directing their redeployment to various state commands across Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The directive was issued in a police signal dated December 16, 2025, with reference CH:5660/WEL/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.96, released by the Department of Finance and Administration (Welfare), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to SaharaReporters, the signal instructed senior police formations to ensure the prompt movement of the affected officers. The notice was addressed to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Assistant Inspectors-General of Police overseeing the PMF and zonal commands, as well as all Commissioners of Police nationwide.
The redeployment affects officers previously assigned to close protection duties at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. They are now to return to their respective state commands, including Adamawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Enugu, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kogi, Kano, Katsina, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe.
Some specific redeployments include:

Adamawa – 13 officers, including Inspectors Baba Ibrahim, Emmanuel Buba, Idris Yahaya, and others.

Kebbi – 18 officers, including Inspectors Abala Yahaya, Joshua Bako, Jamilu Garba, among others.

Kaduna – 14 officers, including Inspectors Abubakar Bawale, Shehu Umar, Nura Isyaku, and others.

Anambra – Seven officers, including Inspectors Sani Usman, Adenitire Blessing, and Lawrence Anthony.

Akwa Ibom – Two officers, Inspectors Terver Apuu and Imoh Udontuen.

FCT – 22 officers, including Inspectors James Peter, Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Isah, Felix Likita, and others.
Other redeployments follow similar distributions across remaining states, with officers reassigned from the Presidential Villa to reinforce policing in their respective commands. Zones 1 (Kano), 3 (Yola), and 7 (Abuja) also saw redeployments of two, one, and six officers respectively.
Copies of the directive were sent to the Chief Personal Security Officer to the President, the Commander of No. 24 PMF Abuja, and police formations in major cities including Abakaliki, Ado-Ekiti, Awka, Bauchi, Calabar, Damaturu, Enugu, Gombe, Jos, Kano, Katsina, Makurdi, Maiduguri, Minna, Owerri, Sokoto, Uyo, Yola, and Yenagoa.
The redeployment aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s November directive to withdraw police officers from VIP escort and guard duties, emphasizing their redeployment to core policing responsibilities in response to rising insecurity across the country.
