The appointment was disclosed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and released to journalists on Friday, April 17, 2026.
According to the statement, Jega will lead a 19-member delegation tasked with supervising and coordinating all Hajj-related activities for the state, ensuring proper planning and smooth execution of the pilgrimage.
The team is also expected to prioritise the welfare of pilgrims while maintaining strong collaboration with relevant agencies throughout the exercise.
The statement noted that the delegation’s responsibility includes effective coordination of all Hajj operations and close engagement with stakeholders to safeguard the well-being of pilgrims from Kebbi State.
In addition, the committee will ensure adherence to agreements involving the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, and airline operators.
It is also mandated to oversee the overall conduct of the pilgrimage and provide recommendations to the government for improving future exercises.
Members of the delegation include former Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah; Commissioner of Police Umar Muhammad Hadejia; Abubakar Muhammad Kana; Babale Umar Yauri; Hon. Garba Muhammad Bena; Hon. Sulaiman Fana; and Aliyu Bello Muh’ud, the Magajin Rafin Gwandu.
Others are Dr Haliru Bala Jikan-Daudu; Zayyanu Bello Haruna Rasheed; Hon. Halima Muhammad Bande; Hon. Halima Hassan Kamba; Mustapha Usman Ka’oje; Muhammad Arzika Bawa, the Sarkin Kabin Jega; Umar Ahmed Saraki; Kadi Sadiq Usman Mukhtar; Justice Nuraddeen Muhammad; and Sahabi Boyi Gemu, who will serve as secretary.
Governor Idris stated that the composition of the committee reflects his administration’s dedication to delivering a well-organised and hitch-free Hajj exercise, adding that the inclusion of experienced officials, religious leaders, and key stakeholders is aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery for pilgrims.
