Speaking at his Port Harcourt residence during a meeting with traditional rulers of Ogbaland on the occasion of his 56th birthday, the former governor emphasized that no politician would passively allow themselves to be dragged down. While expressing openness to the prospect of peace, Wike asserted that he and his team would not permit their descent into turmoil, highlighting the importance of protecting their people and advocating for their interests.

The discord between Wike and Fubara has had far-reaching consequences, contributing to a rift within the state legislature as 27 lawmakers defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). As both leaders navigate these turbulent waters, the path to resolution remains uncertain.
