In alignment with Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, the President of Nigeria has the mandate to appoint both the Governor and four Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). However, these nominations are subject to the affirmation of the Nigerian Senate.

Adding to this, President Tinubu has proposed four new Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), each for a five-year term in the initial instance. These nominations will also require Senate confirmation. The nominees are:

  1. Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro
  2. Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo
  3. Mr. Philip Ikeazor
  4. Dr. Bala M. Bello

These appointments resonate with President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda. The President envisions the nominees to drive pivotal reforms within the Central Bank of Nigeria.
