British Man Denies Plotting Against Tinubu, Expresses Willingness To Speak With Police; Wife Points To Frame-Up

In an interview with Channels Television on Monday, September 2, Wynne denied any involvement in such a plot and stated that he is not on the run. He emphasized his willingness to cooperate with Nigerian authorities.
“I am not aware that I am a fugitive or that I am running from the law. I have been visiting Nigeria for 25 years and have run a bookshop at the NLC offices in central Abuja for seven years. During all that time, the security forces have never shown any interest in me,” Wynne said.
He further added, “I only have one nationality, and the name on my passport is Andrew Wynne, with a nickname. I am more than happy to speak with the police, whether through WhatsApp, Zoom, or in person. I am even willing to travel to London to meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission if they want to start a conversation. I think that would be more than adequate.”
Wynne’s Nigerian wife also spoke out, asserting that her husband is being falsely accused. She claimed that a Nigerian man, who owes her husband money, is trying to get Wynne expelled from the country to avoid repaying his debt.
“We have been together for nine years, eight years of friendship before we finally got married last year. My husband has never been a terrorist. He is being accused falsely because Mr. Olumide owes him money and is not willing to pay. The case is already in court. He’s trying everything he can to intimidate my husband and get him thrown out of the country,” she explained. “Andrew is in the UK now because his visa expired and he had to return. If it weren’t for all these accusations, he would likely be back in Nigeria around the end of September.”
