Canadian Authorities React To Reports Of Visa Refusal For CDS Musa

General Musa revealed that he and top military officers, scheduled to attend an event in Canada on Wednesday, were denied visas by the Canadian embassy on Tuesday.
Speaking on the issue during a lecture at the maiden National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) in Abuja, Musa described the experience as disappointing but noted that “every disappointment is a blessing.” He explained that they were meant to attend an event honoring veterans injured in battle.
The visa denial sparked backlash, with National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu strongly criticizing Canada’s decision, saying they could “go to hell” for refusing Musa’s visa. Similarly, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo condemned the move as disrespectful to Nigeria.
However, in a brief statement on its official X handle on Friday, the Canadian High Commission declined to comment on the issue, citing privacy concerns.
“The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria is aware of media reports related to planned travel to Canada by senior officials. However, for privacy reasons, we are unable to provide any comment on the status of visa applications of specific individuals,” the statement read.
