Commending ARLPAN for its efforts in curbing irregular migration, Dabiri-Erewa reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to working with relevant agencies to ensure safe and legal migration.

ARLPAN President, Mr. Rex Bamidele Jacob, highlighted the root causes of irregular migration, including economic hardship, misinformation, human rights violations, and false promises by unauthorized recruiters. He warned that unethical recruiters put vulnerable Nigerians at risk, with many falling victim to trafficking, fraudulent schemes, or legal troubles abroad due to incomplete or falsified immigration documents.

Jacob called on stakeholders to help eliminate the operations of unlicensed recruiters, whom he identified as key contributors to Nigeria’s rising irregular migration crisis.

He also emphasized the role of the media in raising awareness about the dangers of irregular migration. As part of both short-term and long-term solutions, Jacob advocated for stricter enforcement of legal migration agencies, stronger international cooperation, improved border management, and public sensitization programs that balance security concerns with humanitarian considerations.
