Babalola and Borokini made these remarks separately over the weekend.

During the inauguration of the maiden edition of the Afe Babalola University Industrial Park Trade Fair, in collaboration with the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Babalola cautioned against Nigeria’s persistent reliance on imports and consumption habits. He emphasized that indiscipline, poor work ethics, lack of vision, and patriotism are detrimental to national progress.

He continued, “But the harsh reality is that Nigeria cannot transform into a powerhouse if we continue our current practices and expect different outcomes. This pattern inevitably leads to perpetual poverty.”

Reflecting on his personal journey, Babalola highlighted his dedication to education despite facing challenges. “I did not have the privilege of conventional schooling beyond primary level, but through determination and correspondence studies, I earned my education at secondary and university levels,” he shared.
