Diplomatic Shake-Up! Trump Pulls Back Key U.S. Ambassadors – See Full List
U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the recall of the American Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Mills, who was confirmed as U.S. ambassador to Nigeria only last May, is among several envoys affected in what appears to be a major diplomatic reshuffle by the Trump administration.
At least 24 countries across multiple continents have seen their U.S. ambassadors recalled. In Africa, envoys from Algeria, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Madagascar, Mauritius, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, and Uganda have also been withdrawn.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Fiji, Laos, the Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and Vietnam were impacted. European countries affected include Armenia, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Slovakia, while Guatemala and Suriname saw changes in the Western Hemisphere.
State Department officials told Guardian UK that the chiefs of mission were notified last week that their tenures would conclude in January.
Most of the recalled ambassadors had been appointed during the administration of Joe Biden but continued in their roles under Trump until the new directive.
Reports indicate that the affected envoys have begun receiving official notices from Washington, D.C., regarding their impending departures. Typically, ambassadors serve three to four years in their postings.
