Edo 2024: Ize-Iyamu And Oshiomhole Confirm Amicable Relations, Deny Any Conflict

During an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Ize-Iyamu asserted that he maintains an amicable relationship with Oshiomhole, emphasizing the cordial nature of their association.
“I want to make it clear that our relationship is strong. There is no discord between myself and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. We have collaborated closely from the inception of the party, and occasional disagreements do not signify a fundamental issue. We both possess strong personalities, and disagreements are inevitable,” he stated.
Addressing reports suggesting his disqualification from the APC primary allegedly orchestrated by a screening committee led by Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu refuted the claim, affirming his continued participation in the race.
The APC has scheduled the primary for February 17 in preparation for the Edo State governorship election slated for September 21.
Ize-Iyamu stressed that the decision regarding the APC flagbearer is not the prerogative of a single individual. While acknowledging Oshiomhole’s significant standing in the party, he asserted that even Oshiomhole cannot unilaterally determine the APC’s gubernatorial candidate.
“The determination of the candidate is not the sole responsibility of one individual. Although Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is highly esteemed in our party, he himself will acknowledge that he cannot single-handedly dictate the choice of the candidate,” Ize-Iyamu remarked.
