This revelation was made by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, during the opening of a two-day National Conference on Equal Opportunity for Access to Tertiary Education in Nigeria.

The conference, organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Equal Opportunity Group, aimed to address disparities in access to higher education.

Prof. Mamman emphasized the critical importance of a stable education system in fulfilling the presidential promise to enhance educational opportunities.

He affirmed the government’s dedication to implementing policies that foster inclusivity, ensuring that every Nigerian child can achieve their desired level of education.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, expressed concern about parental interference in the course choices of individuals with disabilities. He underscored the Board’s commitment to changing this situation.

Chris Maiyaki, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), also affirmed the Commission’s readiness to introduce courses and programs that enhance the nation’s capacity to provide equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities, aligning with noble objectives.
