Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has offered his response to the military junta’s decision in Niger Republic to engage in discussions with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

As a reminder, the military junta conveyed to a Nigerian Islamic delegation that they are now open to dialogue and seeking a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis, which has led to economic sanctions from ECOWAS.

In a Twitter statement posted via his verified account on Monday, Fani-Kayode stated that Nigerians should sit back and enjoy the unfolding drama, considering the coup leaders’ readiness for dialogue with ECOWAS.

Fani-Kayode also criticized Ivory Coast’s President Alhassan Outarra and other African leaders who appeared to exploit Nigeria to wage their conflicts and led the nation towards potential confrontation with a friendly neighboring country.

He expressed: “Niger Republic is now prepared to engage in dialogue with ECOWAS, and they have disclosed that their removal of the former President was due to his proposed actions affecting both Niger and Nigeria.

“Someone bring the popcorn as we settle in comfortably to hear more and witness the progression of this unfolding story.

“Meanwhile, condemnation is directed towards President Alhassan Outarra of Ivory Coast, along with all other belligerent, aggressive advocates who sought to exploit our nation for their agendas and who nearly pushed us to the brink of conflict with a neighboring nation.”
