He emphasized that the move was driven by “a genuine desire to serve our people more effectively and ensure that our voices are heard and respected at the highest decision-making tables where the destinies of our communities are shaped.”

Katung noted that calls from various segments of his constituency encouraged him to consider the defection, while also acknowledging the “special interest” shown by President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in collaborating with him to bring “phenomenal and epoch-making development” to the region.

He disclosed that Daniel Amos and several Kaduna State House of Assembly members have joined him in the defection, highlighting the APC’s growing presence in Kaduna South as a testament to its commitment to “inclusion, equity, and progress.”

“The era of marginalization and exclusion, particularly in our recent past, is being replaced with purposeful governance and partnership,” he said. “We are moving to ensure that these gains are not only sustained but replicated across more communities in the zone.”

The senator urged his supporters to remain united, emphasizing the importance of maintaining personal relationships despite political differences.

“As Thomas Jefferson wisely said, ‘I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, or in philosophy as cause for withdrawing from a friend.’ Let our relationships going forward embody that same spirit of mutual respect and enduring friendship,” he concluded.
