From Success To Struggle: Banex Trader Reflects On Drastic Drop In Daily Sales From ₦5 Million To ₦1 Million....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Shop owners within Banex shopping complex in Abuja have reported significant losses following the closure of their businesses by the Nigerian military. The closure came after a confrontation between some traders and military personnel erupted over a faulty phone, resulting in a brawl.
Rita, a sales representative at a phone dealer company in Banex, disclosed to The Whistler that their daily sales plummeted from around ₦5 million to less than ₦1 million since the closure. She explained that the company, operating both retail and wholesale outlets across New and Old Banex complexes, typically generated substantial revenue daily. However, the sudden closure has severely impacted their earnings.
Moreover, Stanley, a phone repairer, relocated his business to the nearest plaza to maintain sales while awaiting the reopening of Banex Complex. He lamented the sudden closure, leaving some of his clients’ devices inaccessible.
While the altercation between traders and military personnel drew widespread condemnation, there were criticisms directed at the military’s decision to close down the plaza, affecting the livelihoods of many, rather than solely addressing the specific incident.
