In a video shared on social media, Muhammad stood by her earlier claims that Ribadu, during his time as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had accused President Bola Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of corruption.
The situation intensified after Ribadu’s legal team, led by attorney Ahmed Raji, demanded a public retraction and apology from Muhammad. However, she remained steadfast, asserting that she would not be coerced into silence.
Muhammad accused Ribadu of hypocrisy, pointing out that despite his previous allegations, he now serves in an administration led by those he once labeled corrupt.
El-Rufai Backs Muhammad’s Allegations
Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasir El-Rufai, added fuel to the fire by supporting Muhammad’s claims. El-Rufai stated that he was present during a 2016 Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting when Ribadu made similar accusations against Tinubu and others.
El-Rufai’s endorsement of Muhammad’s assertions has intensified the controversy, sparking fresh scrutiny of Ribadu’s past statements and his current role in Tinubu’s government.
In her latest remarks, Muhammad challenged Ribadu to pursue legal action if he believed he had been defamed.
“There will be no retreat, no surrender, and certainly no apology to Nuhu Ribadu,” she declared.
Responding to Ribadu’s legal threats, Muhammad said, “I will not be silenced by intimidation from Ribadu, his attack dogs, or his lawyer, Ahmed Raji. I stand by my statement that, as EFCC Chairman, he publicly accused then-Governor Bola Tinubu of being ‘a corrupt government official who would not escape justice.’”
