Otti, during a campaign rally organized by the Labour Party (LP) in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, advised Uzodimma to begin preparing his handover documents, asserting that he would be defeated in the upcoming election.
In response to Otti’s remarks, a group of APC stakeholders, operating under the banner of the Progressives League of Youth Voters (PLYV), accused the Abia governor of conspiring to infiltrate Imo with certain members of the Labour Party during the state’s gubernatorial election.
Ambassador Audu Usman Shuaibu, the National Coordinator of the APC stakeholders, addressed the media during a press conference in Abuja, stating, “As we are aware, the Imo State gubernatorial election is fast approaching, along with elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States.
In many parts of the country, elections are portrayed as a life-and-death struggle, with political actors willing to resort to any means to secure their positions.
However, individuals of good conscience consistently advocate for peaceful elections, and such individuals are the true leaders who believe in the unity of Nigeria.”
Shuaibu continued, “In Imo State, some influential figures are irresponsibly calling for conflict with their inflammatory statements, which are already heightening tension in advance of the election.
It is crucial to bring to the attention of Nigerians the activities of Abia State Governor Mr. Otti, who appears to be preparing to intervene in Imo State with the participation of some members of the Labour Party during the Imo State gubernatorial election.”
