The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing a fresh crisis over calls for the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The faction led by Tony Okocha, which has the backing of the APC’s national leadership, has demanded that Fubara resign or face impeachment. However, the Emeka Beke-led faction, which remains loyal to former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected Okocha’s claims, dismissing them as baseless.

Amid the ongoing political tension, Naija News reports that Governor Fubara on Monday reassured Rivers residents that the state would emerge stronger despite current challenges. He urged citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

His appeal came on the same day that Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, along with 26 lawmakers, boycotted a peace meeting organized by the governor at the Government House.

Okocha to Fubara: Resign or Be Impeached!

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, APC factional chairman Tony Okocha declared, “The APC remains the leading opposition party in Rivers State. We are the voice of the people. When we said Fubara is clueless, we were not joking. The evidence is clear.”

Okocha also dismissed Fubara’s recent peace meeting invitation to lawmakers, calling it irrelevant and insignificant.

He added, “The governor portrays himself as a puritan, but he is a dangerous snake. His agenda for the meeting with lawmakers is childish. Is he inviting them to discuss the Supreme Court judgment? And why was the invitation letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government instead of the governor himself? That’s an aberration.”

Okocha insisted that Fubara must either step down or face impeachment, accusing him of mismanaging the state and disrespecting President Bola Tinubu.

“Fubara has only two options: resign honorably or be impeached. He has failed Rivers people and disrespected Mr. President,” Okocha asserted.

He further warned that Fubara’s position was fragile, arguing that the Supreme Court’s findings provide enough grounds for his removal from office.
