Starting from May 21, the strike severely impacted government-run hospitals and health centers across the state, depriving patients of essential nursing and midwifery services.

NANNM’s key demands included the immediate recruitment of nurses and midwives, rectification of promotion letter errors for members due in 2017/2018, adoption of career progression policies similar to those in other states, and payment of salary arrears dating back to 2011.

Adeyemi clarified that the strike suspension is effective for one month, based on commitments from the state government to address their grievances and implement pending decisions.

“All our members statewide have been instructed to resume their duties starting from Wednesday. We remain optimistic that the government will continue working towards fulfilling all our demands,” Adeyemi reassured.
