According to him, the party’s primary election was held across all 25 local government areas of the state, where Oborevwori reportedly polled a total of 345,375 votes.

Okonta explained that the governor emerged as a consensus candidate because party members had confidence in his leadership and capacity to deliver effective governance.

He noted that Oborevwori was returned as the APC sole candidate in a direct primary conducted on Thursday ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, the former speaker commended the governor’s leadership style and achievements in office.

“I wish to celebrate the governor for who he is and for his performance in his duties. He has been well appreciated by all residents because his impact is being felt across the state,” he said.

Okonta also described the governor as an inclusive leader who accommodates all groups in governance without bias or sentiment.

“The governor is not sentimental and he is not tribal. He allows everybody to be part of his government,” he said, adding prayers for continued success in his administration.

He further reiterated that the primary election reflected broad support for Oborevwori across the state’s 25 local government areas.
