Speaking at the ADC Progressive Movement meeting in Lagos, Amaechi addressed criticisms allegedly coming from supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

He noted that his supporters have intentionally stayed away from online confrontations in line with his directive to maintain peace within the party.

“My supporters don’t get involved in social media fights. You hardly see anyone aligned with me exchanging insults online. What you mostly see are clashes between Atiku’s supporters and Obi’s supporters—even when some of Obi’s supporters attack me, we won’t respond,” he said.

Amaechi stressed that their silence should not be mistaken for weakness, but rather a deliberate effort to promote unity.

“It’s not that we can’t respond; we choose not to because we prioritise peace,” he added.

The former Rivers State governor also questioned the stance of some supporters who insist that the ADC presidential ticket must go to their preferred candidates.

“The Obidients say ‘Obi or nothing’—do they have the numbers? The same goes for Atiku’s supporters saying ‘Atiku or nothing’—do they have the numbers?” he asked.

Amaechi warned that political actors must be mindful of their words before and after the primaries, noting that reconciliation would be necessary once the process is concluded.

He expressed confidence in securing the ADC presidential ticket, explaining that his camp’s refusal to attack others is part of a broader strategy to unite the party after the primaries.

“We believe we will win, and that’s why we’re not insulting anyone. It makes it easier to bring everyone together afterward,” he said.

He concluded by reiterating that both he and his team remain committed to respectful engagement, adding that his supporters are under strict instructions not to insult any member of the party.
