As the wife of renowned Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), Mrs. Falana has also offered guidance to female lawyers. She encourages them to engage in advocacy within their legal practice to ensure a successful career.

These sentiments were shared by the Senior Advocate during her annual Christmas party in Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State. Mrs. Falana generously donated essential items such as noodles, bottled water, soft drinks, bar soap, detergent, and pasta to the children of Erelu Angela Adebayo Children’s Home.

Expressing her views on the challenging economic situation, Mrs. Falana stated, “It is unfortunate that we find ourselves in this difficult situation, but our consistent plea to the government is crucial. The repercussions are so severe that every Nigerian is feeling the impact. Therefore, our government should explore ways to either reverse the situation or provide substantial palliatives, as the current relief measures are inadequate to sustain the Nigerian people for an extended period.”

She highlighted the importance of a vibrant and viable national economy, emphasizing the need for the Naira to stabilize. Mrs. Falana expressed disappointment that the government’s promise to stabilize the exchange rate had not materialized, as the Naira had depreciated significantly since the current administration took office.

Regarding the underrepresentation of female lawyers as Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), Mrs. Falana acknowledged the commendable performance of women in the legal profession. However, she attributed the disparity to the fact that many women opt for roles on the bench, particularly in magistracy and higher judicial positions. Mrs. Falana underscored the significance of active legal practice and advocacy, asserting that the true beauty of legal practice lies in the courtroom. She encouraged female lawyers to embrace the challenges of advocacy, as it is both rewarding and fulfilling.

Commenting on the persistently rising fuel prices, Mrs. Falana linked the phenomenon to the fluctuating exchange rate with the dollar. She predicted that unless measures are taken to stabilize the Naira, the upward trend in fuel prices would persist, contributing to increased hardships for Nigerians in transportation, food, and the overall cost of living.
