Security forces were deployed to disperse the protesters, but it remains uncertain who fired the fatal shots.

Expressing his dismay, Kenneth Okonkwo took to Twitter to lambast the governor for lacking wisdom in handling the situation.

He lamented that Governor Mbah blamed his people for staying at home in fear of violence, but instead of finding a peaceful solution, the governor resorted to violence himself by ordering the killing of those who came out to protest.

According to Okonkwo, the tragic outcome was a result of incompetence and dishonesty on the part of the state’s leadership, leaving the people caught in a lose-lose situation where staying at home or going out both led to dire consequences.
